It has been a while since I have been over here and it has been a while since I have worked on a 500 L/C twin! Neighbours 97 venture with 500 twin keeps eating oil and now won't start. Looked at it this fall and when I took the fuel lines of the carbs the fuel was very rich with oil. Wasn't sure why but I cleaned up the carbs, put it all back together and it fired up no problem. He ran it for a day or two (ice fishing) and then it wouldn't start again. Again pulled fuel lines, full of oil again. I have the Yamaha manual, It says to adjust throttle freeplay then oil pump cable. Throttle adjusted, check the pump. Says hold WOT and mark should line up on pump and it does.
My question is where should it be at closed throttle. I'm thinking the cable is stretched but I don't have another 500 around to compare it with. Anyone have any ideas? Needs the sled for wednesday!
