So recently I have replaced some parts in both my clutches including new springs and plastic bushings in the secondary. Well tonight I started up my sled and ran it on my track stand. I revved it up a bit and it seemed fine. But as I revved it up more till the clutch engaged and let off a bit it sounded like the brake was applied. So I lifted up the clutch cover and did the same thing and as I revved it up past engagement and it looked as if the belt was just spinning on the primary and when I let off throttle it made that same sound like I had hit the brakes. I took a closer look at the secondary and normally if I was gonna take the belt off I'd push in the secondary and turn it but when I did this it would turn but wouldn't snap back like it normally would. It kinda seemed like it was binding?

Maybe the belt was low in the secondary when you first put it in on,that's why it spun in the primary.Did it still do that after you spun it a few times? As far as the noise if the primary sticks a bit sometime it will make a snap or pop when it opens back up.The secondary may not snap back if its sticking or even cold. Ive had them not snap back but then after its warmed up its fine.Of course assuming everything is together right ..wrap etc.

I took the secondary off and put it inside and even then it seems that normally when I'd push in the secondary and turn it that it would snap back, but now it doesnt. I have the wrap set at 6 and 2 which I think was the same as I had last year. The belt that was on there I took off and put a different one on so will try that then. So am I over thinking this?

Is this an srx?if so thats the right twist for a stock clutch. When I stated warmed up I meant warmen up by running on the sled.Sometimes even when just changing belts the secondary wont snap back until it's spun a few times.

yes this is for an srx. I actually just ran it on a track stand and it seemed ok. But when I would run it above engagement and then rev it up quick and then let off it looked like the belt was hopping on the primary. I had previously cleaned it but took a brillo pad to the inside sheaves of the primary there was a lot of black marks just from running it a little. So I cleaned those sheaves up and ran it again and it didnt seem as bad but the belt still seemed to jump around a little. So is the belt just a little out of adjustment Im guessing.

well today I cleaned up the clutches sheaves along with a new belt and took it for a lil rip and she seems a lot better. Tomorrow gonna take it for a longer ride and shake the bugs out!
