tunnel protectors

have a question for you die hard vintage sledders like me :-) I have a 79 Yammie 440 exciter and I put in 48 1 inch Gold Digger studs do I really need to add tunnel protectors with that size stud > I have ridden it about 100 KM and don't see or hear it hitting the tunnel yet ! just curious if its over kill on this Fan machine ? I can put them in but but wondering if its a lot of work that can be spent else where on it . I definatley would if I was running taller studs but these seem short enuff

Better safe than sorry....put a set of protectors in, especially in such a low mile clean sled. I just rivet in a set of cheap slides cut to length, it really doesn't take very long.

With 1" studs, sooner or later they will contact the tunnel....all it takes is one good bump. I had mine hit the tunnel before I put in the protectors and I am running .750 studs.

with 1'' studs you will open up your tunnel get some protectors in there and .875'' studs 1 inch are too long for these sleds I run the 1'' Polaris aluminum tunnel protectors as plastic ones will where out

thnx nutz i am in the process of putting them in now . dont want any rips in this sleds tunnel its dang near 100% primo only has 240 KM on it
