340 vs 440 exciter pipe

is there any difference between the 340 and 440 exciter pipes and if so which year is better someone had posted that the 76 340 pipe worked well on a 440 is this true thanks

yes there are differences they are 2 completely different motors one reed valve and one piston port .....old wise tail about the 340 pipe on the 440 they use to say the same thing about the gpx's too but we proved that it hurts the hp you will be restricting the 440 with a 340 pipe

all of the 440 pipes are the same with the exception of the 76 pipe which you can remove the core to repack it the 77-81's the cores are welded in tight
