2002 Venture grinding noise at low speeds

My 02 Venture 700 makes a terrible grinding noise when accelerating from stop and goes away around 20 mph. It does it in either forward or reverse. The belt is brand new, and tightening the chain adjuster didn't make a difference. Sounds like it's coming from the chaincase side. Any suggestions? thanks
 
That's what we do over here...we help where we can! I just put a new track on my sled and it was rubbing on the protectors & at low speeds I would hear a rattling/grinding noise. Well I guess the track had rubbed so much that t caused the protectors to come loose. I would check there first if you have them on your sled. They are up inside the tunnel at the front of the sled right in front of the drive wheel. If it's not that, I'm not too sure what it would be, just sounds like the same problem I just had with my sled....

Thanks for the quick response. I'll definitely look into this tomorrow. Could it also be a bearing do you think?
 
Your welcome! It could be a bearing, but not sure. It could be a number of different things. You will have to take your time and look closely at your sled.
 
Look underneath at the track suspension. A broken W arm might cause that. if it is doing it, you will see the problem. I doubt if it is the problem, but the track could be loose enough to cause the front axle sprockets to jump when you accelerate. Do a good general inspection under there and if everything looks okay, you might have to go into the chaincase. How is the chaincase lube level?

I don't think it's the track or anything broken, it seems to only do it when accelerating from low speeds too. Haven't checked the chaincase

I looked all around underneath and nothing looks wrong... I also have noticed that the noise is definitely coming from the chaincase. This sled has reverse so I am kind of skeptical on opening it up.... Any ideas???
 
Go ahead and take the cover off. Might be lucky and it is only the lower sprocket bolt. Have seen a few with a popped head this season.

Okay I'll try this over the weekend. I've never done this before but I'll be relying on YouTube videos to guide me along!
