to make a long story short ive been trying for two years to get a clutch recipe dialed in and have not had good luck on top end. today put a 42 finish on my sled and hola. I should over rev using loaded up 8dn20's www primary and I didn't. so I now know something else is wrong. don't know what made be look at the heads but I notice 8dn-00. remind u this is a 2001. I remembered a post saying 2000 and up heads are 8dn-10. looking alittle further my cylinders say 8dn-00 also. so I at least know I have a 98 top half motor according to part #'s. is there any way to tell if my lower part is 2001. thanks for any help

the lower end doesn't match for the stator ...u can get a look at the cylinder number ...

you have the top end of the 98-99 ...98-99 stator doesn't fit in a 2000 up lower case ..it will but will need to be weld to place to pick up coil ...is it a 2000 ? or a 99 or 98 with the newer style headlight

its a 2001 with 8dn-00 heads and cylinders, hopefully that's all that's been switched.

it should perform almost the same ....ive seen 98 faster than 2000 and up ....

I would use 98 but ask other what they think since they are lower compression

have a chance to buy 2001 heads is it worth it to buy them and put them on even know I still have the 98-99 cylinders

just check the squish clearance you have in the sled right now, and just mill your 98-99 heads to tighten it up some.

how much do u get to mill heads if I pay shipping both ways if I decide to do that after the season is over
