I have my 8bu's loaded with 4.5 inner and 3.6 tip these came right my 800 vmax 4 and was surprised how hard the pull is in mid range and topend even holeshot is alot better, before the sled would not lift at all on takeoff but now the skis lift about 6 inches off the snow and keeps them there for about 100 feet then levels out,
this on snow haven't had the sled on Ice for awhile
too bad my SRX won't start i missing alot races here

ice probley was chewed up. why ya lost some traction. 8bu are the best weights for racing. some say h/c , i will take 8bu=00/ 3:16 (yammie tony)

Be sure your chissels are sharp. I've been through the same process as you and all the info you are getting is right on. I basically had the same set up and mods. It would launch with no scratch marks in the ice just holes... no track slip at all. It was all Hang On! Keep your chissels sharp made a big difference on mine.when i had mine on ice I ran 168 and it was enough no spin with 5500 engagment.
