1994 VMAX 600 DX rear suspension replacement. What fits? Pros, Cons?

Hi everyone,
I started another thread regarding the lack on movement in the rear suspension on my 94 VMAX 600 when you push/pull on the rear grab handle. I assume that some part of the rear suspension is rusted thus preventing movement. It might be able to be fixed but even in good working order, the suspension is not great. So I am thinking about a replacement rear suspension to be swapped in for next year. I will have the summer to search for the correct parts. The sled has a standard size track.
So what make/model suspension fits easily? I know it has been mentioned that a 96 VMAX XT suspension is a direct fit, but what if I can't find that specific model suspension? How much better is the XT skid?
What else is either a direct fit or close to a direct fit? I am also interested in something that is relatively easy to source. I called a sled salvage yard, and they were less than useful in my search for a new skid. I want something that is going to make the sled more comfortable for my fiancée.

I recommended the XT skid due to its direct bolt in and WAY better than what is under there now. literally any 121" skid will go in there...just how hard to you want to work to put it in. Just about any skid from any manufacturer will be an upgrade. Keep in mind the better the ride the more demand for that skid = fetching a higher price. Skid geometry from donor sled (center of drive axle to center of front mounting point and center of rear mounting point) will be needed to drill holes in your DX tunnel as well as how far down from top of tunnel. The more popular skid mounting hole patterns can be found on different shock/suspension web sites.
 
The next simplest would probably be an x-10 (Xtra-10) skid from a Polaris, from about the same era. They are fairly cheap on ebay, if you can find them. They would need new holes drilled (only 4) and some sort of shim plates, or you could relocate the original plates. The whole thing can be done in a weekend. www.jbshocks.com will have the measurements you need for the holes. I used them, the only problem I had was the skid sold to me was a different length then it was advertised as on ebay.
 
What about an "XTC" skid? from a 97 or 98 Yamaha VMAX? I called a used sled parts shop and they had a few XTC skids.
They also have a 1996 VMAX 500XT skid, would the 500 work?

Are you sure the 94 DX will take an XT skid without drilling?

I know my dx I had (96) was different as it was a 136 but my dad 94 vmax (not a dx) has an XT skid and required all new holes).
 
Thread bump....the VMAX has been on the back burner for a while, but know it is front and center (I think). I was on Youtube, and I noticed this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8K2TXdyQO4E). The guy in the video used an SC3 skid, Would that be the best readily available bolt in skid? I want a skid that will bolt in with the fewest modifications. I don't know why my post was modified, but the basic question is, is this the best bolt in skid, with the fewest modifications?
