Looking for some suggestions. I own an 04 Venture 600 it's a great cruiser but when it comes to deep and fluffy it's like the Titanic. I just can't seem to get on top. There is a 1" camoplst cone track on it and it sort of feels like a bannana peel. If I stab the happy flap anywhere on the reasonable speed scale she blows out the track and slides around like a rear wheel drive car. It's kind of fun but I would really like it to drop her rear and haul. This machine also gets stuck very easy and everytime I ruin a belt (4 in 600 k) and it happens very easily. I have been contemplating a 1.25" ripsaw, transfer rods, better flotation skis (as long as they don't affect trail performance) and some cutch work.I would like to know where a good starting point for me would be? I'm pretty new to the snowmobile world so any help would be greatly appreciated.

the Ripsaw REALLY holds a groomed trail well, just like a studded track. In the fluffy stuff I Give it a B-. Its better in deeper poweder than my stock yoko .92 lug track but not too much better, the lugs have alot of spacing in them (which is why it grabs so well on groomed trails.)

good set of skis and some weight transfer, also that 1.25 track won't hurt either
you should not be roasting belts like that, 4 in 600km is insane, they should last for 4000km give or take, maybe your clutch alignment is off or maybe your getting unstuck method needs refinement, not saying you don't know how, but your wasting your money on belts. just an idea.

Thanks for the input. You may be totally correct Northmansx on the unstuck methods but I really don't get stuck that bad. Here's an example: I just came in from a short run this very minute and I smoked the belt a couple of times moving it around in the driveway. There is only about 1" of wet snow in my driveway. It's like, when you go to start off every now and then you have to rev the snot out of it. It engages around 5000 rpm. Isn't this a little high? When you ride the sled for a while shes fine but, the clutch still feels really soft. It's almost like there is not enough clamping force on the driven clutch. It's driving me nuts.

clean yer clutches and put new springs and buttons in them. my et410 was doing this and that that is how i fixed it (atleast untill i get the roller on it)

Hey YAMANEWF my old 500 98xtc used to be a submarine also. Here's how I cured it= 1.25 camo 9818, transfer rods, USI tunnelwides (7" wide), then I geared down 2 on top with a clutch kit from hauck. Now you can drive next to a stuck 700 in 4' of powder stop, laugh and take off. It will beat most buddies 700's with 1" tracks in the deep stuff. What a blast!

yamanewf, the engagement sounds a little high, it is possible to change that with a new spring with a different preload. also, only one inch of wet snow,i thought you guys were getting hammered with the third storm in a week?

sry. didnt see year 1st time.
ditch the cone track. they are junk in the powder (only meant for groomed trail) and buy a ripsaw. it will fix the squirming in the trail and helps in the powder. my sxr handles like its on rails even more than last year with it on and i never have used studs. my sister got it stuck with the ripsaw on only because it was in a swamp and the track dug all the way down to the ice when it stopped. havent got enough powder to go play in yet without breakin stuff.
for the belt, if the sled is still under warrenty take it back. they might have the clutch set for wrong belt. when i got the et410 new i had the same belt problem. it would squeel like a bugger and burn the belt. burnt the oem yammy, burnt my spare daycomax, and burnt another goodyear belt all in the 1st weekend i rode it.
check the oem transfer setup on your sled and make shure your gaps are even. i have an sxr500 2001 and it is never gettin a set of adjustable transfer rods. when i sit on it the gaps are even on both sides. if you are going to carry a passenger, get some adjustable ones so you can set as needed.
if its a non powervave 600, go into the tec pages and pickout an aggressive trail setup for a sx-r 600 tripple that suits your riding style. do the reed notch also in those pages for a crisper throttle response. everyone on here has said at one point or another that those 600 tripples need a good clutch set-up to wake them up and let them pull like they should.
as for the skis. i cant reccomend what to do as far as aftermarket skis. on my twin (sxr500) for better flotation i put viper skis on it. still waitin on the snow to try em out in the deep stuff. i know last year with the stock ones it would only submarine when you let off the gas going across a lake in 3' of powder. wack it again and it woud come right back up on top the snow.
but bring it back to the dealer 1st and tell him what it is doing in the clutch. if the sled is that new it is their headace and not yours. isnt that what warrenty is for?

Thanks for the info guys I really appreciate it. Yes NORTHMANSX we did get hammered over the weekend. I live on the far eastern coast of the island and we got 80cm of snow in 48 hrs, that is 31.5", yesterday we had 2-3" of rain. BANNANAS. Anyway we still have tons of snow. It only made the trails even. Oh MAIM when you say Viper skis are you referring to the regular Viper or the Mountain Viper? I guess I'll check with the dealer first to see if there is a problem then it's time to let the tweaking begin. Thanks again guys I really appreciate your input.

i put stock viper ones on my sxr. my brother has a viper and his stock skis where over an 1" wider than my stock ones. if the mountain viper ones are wider than your stock ones try em out.
