Was wondering if I could cut my stock can in half on my 02 viper, remove the packing then weld it back together. Want that somewhat loud sound but then cops see a stock can

I don't think you should do that you could run into jetting problems. If you just bought an aftermaket can at least you have a base point in jetting . Plus if you cut and reweld the stock can it might not last to long. The metal will be weak from welding it

The stock can probaly doesn't have fiberglass or pillow type packing in it. If it did it would be serviceable. Eg. The way aftermaket motorcycle exhausts are. They probally have baffles or chambers in them
