Project 440 SRX radar run sled

Well I'm About to help a friend with a radar run project for his son to run this winter. I would really
like to keep him on a Yammi but am not sure if I can pull enough power form the old school SRX to make the lad competitive. Anyone with experience on these motors please chime in and let me know your opinion and results from specific mods done on these sleds. This will be a full on improved stock project! Right now the speed to beat is in the low 100's. I believe it is 104 but not 100% sure. What other options do I have to be able to run a Yammi. I just cant think of anything else in the line up that may be able to run these numbers.

dan, we ran 106 in 660 with 78 srx mod back in mid nineties on ice. motor was a 77, 78 mix match, ssr pipes, and .44mm carbs. sled was 295 pounds. sure it can be done. 3:16 (yammie tony)
 
The only srx I can find around here right now is a clean 1980.
I am going to contact delaughter and get some info from him on pipes. As far as cylinders are concerned. Is it just the porting specs that differ from year to year or are the casting completely different?
 
porting spec is huge. 78-79-80 used same clys and same porting. 77 srx and 78 ssr were best for porting. 76 srx was somewhere in between. delaughter can port any way you want so thats not a issue. you can work with a 80. 3:16 (yammie tony)
