One my last ride last spring, the tach on my Venture was bouncing all over. I'll look for a rub through as my prep for next winter goes forward, but is there something else it could be if I don't find one?

Could be the stator going bad.

Electrical gremlins...got to love them! Could be rub threw, Could be stator getting weak, Could be some rust/crust on flywheel. Is your Venture E-start? Battery good and charged? Battery terminals clean? Factory E-start sleds the battery acts as the smoothing coil for charging system, the will run with dead or bad battery but can do some weird things sometimes.
