Hey All, I just wanted to properly introduce myself as a new member of TotallYamaha. I have been lurking for a little while and have learned alot about these sleds and from just reading about how reliable and nice Yamaha sleds are and ride , I Finally Got One!! I recently picked up a 1999 SX600 with the redhead, and i can already tell that I am going to like it. It feels very comfortable and after riding my buddies SXR700 a few times last year, I knew that these were nice sleds that ride great in trails. Im genuinely excited to ride this beast around this winter!!
I picked up my sled at a decent used price and I am currently doing some pre season maintenance to get it ready for this upcoming winter. Is there anything in particular that I should take into consideration while working on these sleds as far as Do's and Do Not's? I have all of the carbs off currently and I have removed the float bowls and was going through them when I noticed something odd,,,
The center carburetor seems to be missing what could be described as a brass "pick up?" tube that is kitty corner to the pilot jet? The Mag and PTO side carbs have them,, the center carb does not... which i find odd. But I am New to working on Yamaha sleds and triples in general. I am trying to figure out how to upload photos, but havent figured it out completely yet. I just wanted to know if this is normal for these triple carb setups?
I would like to have it all good to go before the first snow flies! Last year was such a blast! I hoping that this year will be the same or much better snow wise as last year, and Im excited to actually have a sled with some decent power compared to my old fan cooled sled,,
Thank You for any suggestions or input.
