Exciter Serial Number??

I found a number stamped on the tunnel and I'm not sure if its the VIN or what it is. Can someone tell me if the VIN was stamped on or if it was on a label and stuck on?

Here is the number. 8N5-08714

Any info would be appreciated.

Should be located on the right side of the tunnel. Go to that yamaha site, click parts catalog and then type that in to the "search vehicle by vin" and see if it come up.
