clutch question....

pulled my clutch apart on my 2001 sxr to make some changes(stock weights, 3.6 tip,4.5 heal, 43/51 helix) anyways when i pulled it apart i found no rivit in the heal of the weight.... isn't there supposed to be one? i thought this sled was stock, why would some one not put a rivit in? primary spring, secondary spring helix were all stock. im just trying to figure out where this machines at.

weight in the heel lowers engagement. if you like the rpm it engages at, do not add any weight to that hole. i ran my sx500r with no weight in the centre hole on the thundershift weights i had in it. we tend to prefer heel clickers though.

I have 8df weights with only 2 holes. Would the hole closest to the rear still act like a heal, or a mix of middle and heal?

the weights you have only has 2 holes the inner and the outer, these are referanced to the pivot hole. So if you add weight to the inner hole it will add more weight sooner to the arm making the engagement speed lower but giving you more grab or pressure applied to the belt. Adding more weight to the outer hole will also grab the belt more and lower topend rpm at the same time. The trick to clutching is finding the balance of clutch weight and front spring pressure to give you the nice flat power curve.
