piston slap marks

It appears to me that these type of marks on piston skirts should automatically tell you what to do when you are rebuilding your motor wether you should change your pistons or not

just to double check I measured the cylinder skirts 10mm from the bottom of the skirt and my pistons are .010 out of spec. this is a clear indication to me that the piston was so worn out it was slapping and the boar and eventually the piston skirt would have broken off and destroyed the rest of the motor I believe this is why it is so important to change your rings every three to four thousand miles respectively.

excessive wear spots in the cylinder where the nicasil has appeared to have been rubbed off is from piston slap. be sure to check your cylinder bore with an inside micrometer

tom that piston not that bad. i seen alot worse. i seen where you can see yourself in the skirts its so polished. good post. 3:16 (yammie tony)
 
You're probably right,but my 02 Viper ER still had original pistons and rings in it when it went down the road about 3 years ago with 15,018 miles on it.That was 3 years ago and last I heard it was still running.
