It appears to me that these type of marks on piston skirts should automatically tell you what to do when you are rebuilding your motor wether you should change your pistons or not
just to double check I measured the cylinder skirts 10mm from the bottom of the skirt and my pistons are .010 out of spec. this is a clear indication to me that the piston was so worn out it was slapping and the boar and eventually the piston skirt would have broken off and destroyed the rest of the motor I believe this is why it is so important to change your rings every three to four thousand miles respectively.
excessive wear spots in the cylinder where the nicasil has appeared to have been rubbed off is from piston slap. be sure to check your cylinder bore with an inside micrometer
