Worn out Clutch Roller.. just One???

I have been going through this 1999 SX 600 and while cleaning and inspecting the primary clutch, i discovered that 1 out of the 3 rollers was completely wasted and wiggled around all loose,, the other 2 were fine. I have since replaced all 3 of them for new ones, but I am the type of person that would like to know why it failed in the first place.

Any clutch experts in here? What would only 1 worn roller indicate? is there anything else i should look into or out for while I still have it in my garage? what would cause just one of the 3 rollers to wear out completely? Keep in mind that basically everything else that I have discovered about this sled had been previously "mickey moused" with by the previous owner and done all sorts of half assed... could it just be a fluke thing that happened?
 
was there a inner bushing at all? I never seen one go like that. My guess is someone may have tried to replace the bushing and failed.
 
Every one I seen like that inner bushing was bad and slides for the inner sheave was worn

When you say the slides for the inner sheave, what are you referring to? The hollow dowel that holds the roller that the bolt goes through or something else?

Oh Ok I see now. I am definitely not a clutch expert and the extent of my knowledge only goes so far as to how the clutch works. Is there any good articles that break down these clutches and explain how it works and which components do what to make it all function? for example, the sliders, what do they do? do they provide a surface for the weight to ride against and allow it to slide through contraction and expansion? I have no clue, and most of the you tube videos i find really do not explain much, more or less how to take it apart and remove it. and i have to be honest, i have never even heard the term slider before as far as clutches go,, I have alot to learn still about clutches. Thanks.

after looking at that part fiche, it looks like the sliders provide something for the movable sheave to slide on as it moves inward and outward. I will look into them. Thanks for the input.

Correct. The sliders just act as a guide. The weights do the work by pushing against the rollers.
 
not knowing anything about clutches either I notice that on my own 97 600 and 500 that on both the bolts that go through these rollers are not tight but have a 1/8" play back and forth endwise like the nuts are not tight enough but before I try to tighten them all are they supposed to be loose for a reason? I see the manual calls for 4 lbs when torque
