SRX 700 clutch question....what have I got?

Hey guys, new here, just picked up a 2000 SRX in WI on the weekend. Very nice sled. needed a heck of a clean up but have a question about the clutching. Mainly because the guy said his buddy set it up for trail riding and wasn't sure if anything was changed or maybe just adjusted settings. It has 9200 miles on it and I just finished going through carbs, and driven clutch. Here are some Pics of the sled and clutch helix and spring I took out. Spring was set at #3 and #9. Also just wondering about the sheeve play in the bushing. seems to be a lot. Are those replaceable? I've attached a picture also.

stock secondary spring, stock setting is 6 and 2. u have a straight 45 helix. stock your helix should be 47(8bv70 or 8bv71). might have alittle over rev on top. check your primary and see what weights u have. stock is 8dn20. might have to add tip weight if your using that helix or maybe try www primary spring if there's a overrev. and on the bushing yes are replaceable. I buy parts from partzilla.com.

Replace that bushing first, and any others you find worn. You need to have a good solid clutching before any changes should be made. I personally replace that bushing ever 2500 miles no matter what. And I can't feel a difference in performance, but it's always given me back a couple sled lengths in my groups drag races. Clutching is everything when it comes to being the first one across a lake.
 
maybe you just took them out but your missing the 3 adjustment bolts for the rear sec. clutch also.
 
Ya I was looking at that. I never took them out. So they are supposed to be there? Damn. Wonder what I can use. I just took the shims out to tighten up the sheeves. Please advise.

Those 3 bolts are used to adjust how high or low the belt sits in the secondary. They usually have washers on them too, washers are for the adjustment. No washers will spread the secondary apart dropping the belt down, when you add the washers it lets the two halves come together bringing the belt up higher. I would just buy the the bolts that are supposed to be in there, I suppose you could use any metric bolt but you'd have to make sure the length was the same as the original ones. part number for the bolt is 90105-06734-00, and the part number for the washer is 90201-061H1-00
 
alright I know the deal with how the adjustment bolts work, same as polaris. I wonder why the guy would remove them. So I'm assuming the shims don't need to be in there then because they would just rattle around?? or do the bolts actually push on those shims like on a polaris?

Secondly I've got some pics here now of my weights and cover bushing/ and spring. Is this spring stock? Also check out the wear on that cover bushing from left side to right.......wow.photo 1-2.JPGphoto 2-2.JPGphoto 3.JPG
 
Man, when you get those clutches redone, that's going to be a completely different sled. I know it's new to you, but good for you for a little maintenance.
