Gas Mileage on 99 SX 600 Triple

i have an 11.7 gallon tank. i usually fill up when the needle is just befor the E. it's right around 10 gallons every time. I'm getting about 7.5 or mabey 8 MPG. is this normal? i was told i should be getting about 10-13 when you don't pisspound the sled all the time. PLEASE HELP!

That is really bad mine got 12-14 still got at least 10 pounding up and down the lake. something is wrong with it. belts / clutches? carbs?

My guess is your clutching is way off. Not enough info to know for sure.
