I have decided to build my 01 SXR 700 from a 121 to a 136, and want some good advice. I am leaning towards a rail extension, but skid replacement from a doo, or poo is also another option. Now, am I better, while everything is apart, to drop the drivers a tooth, and leave the gearing stock, or leave the drivers stock, and change the gears? What should I do?

The only reason you need to change to smaller drivers is if you plan to run a track larger than 1.5" paddle on it. If you do drop to a smaller driver, you might as well change to extrovert drivers. With extroverts you will never skip the track on the drivers and you can run the track a little loose. If you were to go to extroverts you would also likely end up cutting down the front of the rails on the skid so they don't contact the drivers. With this mod you would likely then need an anti-stab kit.
If you can find a decent SC-2/3, edge, or IQ skid you will thank yourself later. However, finding a 136" skid with a good shock package on it is sometimes not as easy as it seems. Another thought is if you have to drill new holes for a new skid anyway, just mount a 121 skid back farther in the tunnel. This would decrease your approach angle on the track and help it stay on top of the snow.
Essentially, you need to answer some questions for yourself to plan your build correctly. What size lug do you want on your track? Are you going to buy a track with open windows? Are you ok with loosing some top end speed?

Still weighing my options. Found a used 136 track, but it's not what I want, from my used parts supplier. Only 3/4 lug. He has a complete m10 from a touring sled, but wants more than I would like to spend. He does have an extra 10, but do I want it??? hmmmmm...... Still on the lookout I guess
