Bearing chatter. Fretting. That is from a crank,clutch,or flywheel that is out of true or balance, excessively worn bearings, high milage, an engine that has seen a lot of high RPM, or all of the above. Double check that your bearings are good and dont have any excess slop or crunchy sounds when you roll them. If it seems they are useable, knock down the high spots with a razor, then smear red loctite on the bearings and cases where the damage is. This will keep the bearings tight and keep the damage from getting worse. Throwing a dial indicator at it wouldnt be a bad idea either.
