Phazer fuel deliver problem

Hello Everyone!

Got my $150 1987 Phazer find all back together with spark and we are able to get her started, but are having problems getting fuel to the carbs. We can get it started by pouring fuel directly into the carbs, but can't get fuel to pull through the lines. I have looked and looked and looked for a shut off valve for the gas tank or fuel pump and can't find one.

Is it just an issue of getting it running enough to get enough suction and fuel pump working for fuel to get the fuel flowing back through the lines?

Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated!
 
Did not find a fuel filter anywhere?

Got fuel running from the pump, but now I'm not sure the fuel lines were running to the carbs correctly.

There is the inlet on the top of the pump which has fuel going to it from the tank (which we discovered will only flow from the tank once it has reached a certain level in the tank--any ideas??). Then there is fuel leaving the pump from the bottom outlet and the left side of the face of the pump. Originally the fuel lines were running from the pump to the carbs from the two outlets on the face of the pump and the outlet on the bottom was connected to an outlet on the bottom of the engine. Since we got fuel coming from the bottom left and left face outlets, are these lines that should be running to the carb? Below is a link to the diagram of the fuel pump.

The fuel filter is in the tank. you have to take off the seat to access the rubber bung that the fuel lines connect to.
The fuel pump you have a link to does not resemble a Phazer pump. You should have four nipples with lines connected to it. If the pump is mounted in the sled, there is a 1/4" nipple on the right side that goes to the tank. There should be one in the front and one counter clockwise from it on the left that go to the carbs. The left rear nipple is for the vacuum line that goes to the nipple on the crank case. If you do not have one with a left rear nipple, the nipple on the bottom is the vacuum.
Are u in fact running a polaris pump?? I think you have the plumbing correct then. If you have to fill the fuel tank to a certain level before it will suck fuel tells me that your fuel filter fell off or the tube in the tank has rotted off. Probably both.

Crap, you are right. Mixing my projects up, also working on getting a Polaris spring running and that is the link to that fuel pump, sorry!

I will take the seat off and see what we can find.

Any suggestions on who to fixed the rotted tube in the fuel tank or will it just be a matter of keeping a certain amount of fuel in the tank?
 
Use a piece of wire and hook the line out of the tank. The pulse hose from the pump to the crankcase has to be in good shape and should by a reinforced black hose - not clear plastic.
