Clutching on a stock motor

I just rebuilt my 02 viper and it's got a little hesitation out of the hole. I'm thinking it's my old wore out primary. I was going to rebuild it but then I thought why not just clutch it. The sled is bone stock what does everybody recommend for clutching?
 
I was talking to a yamaha tech the other day he recommended that I go up 2 teeth on the upper drive gear. Also he said I should with a different fly weight 8ca I believe. Anybody have any other opinions.
 
Are you sure it's not a lean bog? Carbs are clean and fuel screws are at? If these are not the issue then what you are replacing in the primary For a rebuild would not include the weights. before somebody can give you an idea they will need to know where and how you ride %90 of the time.
 
There is a setup in the tech section I might try. It is 4.5 gram rivets in both holes of stock weights. Stock primary spring I think, it says wyw but I am guessing it is ywy since the wyw is a short cover spring. 53/43 helix with green spring at 70. I am going to try 51/43 since I already have one sitting here. If we ever get snow I will try it. One of the rivets is already a 4.5 but cant remember which one. I would make sure everything is in good working order before you try anything. Maybe someone else has tried this and can confirm if it is a good setup.
 
Check to make sure your belt is sitting flush across the secondary clutch. If it is down a little its like starting in second gear. I sold my 2002 Viper 2 seasons ago but it had nearly 10,000 miles on it. It still looked and ran like a champ and was a giant killer for what it was. It would knock off most 800's and I even beat a ZR900 and ran dead even with a Mach 1000 on a big lake in Michigan. I ran Heavy Hitters on it with a Camoplast Predator 1.25" track. I wouldn't waste my time with the 53/43 setup. Been there and done that. There are other setups like Heelclickers and such but none of them are as consistent as the HH's. They just flat out work. I don't hang out on this side much any more since I bought my Attak GT.

Don't go up two teeth, that would worsen bog. A smaller top gear gives more out of the hole(increases gear ratio).
