engine shakes at idle, smoothes out at higher rpms, is this normal?

Personal I think your power valve servo is still acting up, pull the cover and watch it at idle, it shouldn't be moving at all. The slow motion factor seemed to really show the cables pulling in that video, I may be completely wrong though. Cant hurt to check.
 
I checked the runout on the crank, I got almost .005 right next to the seal and almost .010 towards the end of the crank, it looks like my crank seal is leaking too. I have another engine here that I also checked, I got .003 next to the seal and down near the end of the shaft.

Give Jeff a call at Midwest Crankshaft in Green Bay - (920) 434-3630. He can probably true that up for you, he's very reasonable and does good work. With that much runout it might have beat up the bearings too.

for now I'll put in my spare engine and maybe work on this other one over the summer. I've heard good things about midwest crank, I'll have to give him a call.
 
I just checked the runout on my extra engine again, I've got around .001" near the seal and .002" to .003" near the end of the crank, would I be ok to run this engine or does this one need work too?
 
I have know idea what run out tolerances are. But it were mine i would leave it. If its the video that makes it look funny and its just vibrating your fine. My vipers shake at idle more then my washer when the spin cycle is off balance. My wife always has a smile on her face at stop signs! HAHA! (good thing for me she's not around at the moment). Now if your crank seal is leaking also then if you want to go through changing engine go for it. But that second engine will be fine also. I dont know that you will get a true tolerance anyway. Years of running, the clutch being on and off, ect.... will change things depending how and where you are measuring. So just my 2cents. Remember our sleds are getting old and a bit out of shape just as i am!!!! Let it snow!

Yeah...I'm going to drop this other engine in and run it, I'll be sending the other crank over to midwest cranks to get fixed. Hopefully we get some snow soon!!
