99 vmax 500sx with 99 venture 600

hi everyone
blew the 500 and got a 600 from a venture
motor looks identical except for electric start and electric plugs on carbs
also the 500 has fitting in head for antifreeze that goes to carbs
can i use the 500 head and carbs on the 600 engine?

any and all info greatly appreciated

You'll need a 600 head.

so it would probably be easier to change the wiring harness and use 600 motor with its original carbs?

well i tried the 500 head and carbs for the heck of it
works like crazy

That 600 will not work in place of the 500. You MAY get away with swapping stators, or swap the electrical, and cdi from the 600

Does the 600 have the smart carbs? If so you would be better off to find a set of non smart carbs to swap on it and be done with them.

well it does
only things different were 1 plug in the harness and water pump cover(600 had no outlet for carbs)

600 had smart carbs
i used the carbs from 500

all i did was swap head from 500 to 600(no nipple for hose)
change the end on 1 plug in harness (from magneto)
and change water pump cover(no nipple for hose on 600)

it runs great....for how long i dont know

Stators, and cdi boxes are different part numbers. Sure, maybe the sled will fire, maybe it will run, but timing and everything will be out

Keep a close eye on spark plug color and piston wash. You likely have different compression ratio now, more than likely higher due to smaller diameter bore/domes of the 500 (did you compare them to the 600?), and you can also expect to have a different fuel supply curve with the other carbs as well. All it takes is a lean spot at one throttle setting, doesn't have to be wide open, to start a burn down in one of the cylinders. You may not even notice it at first, until it's too late. Good luck.
