Wow almost 19000km on a 2 stroke is impressive by any standards. I just rebuilt my viper last year at 11,000km as preventative maintenance.

Looks great. I've picked my 01 srx with 8000km and now with 103xxkm. Not sure if the engine was took apart so I did a compression test around 9k and got roughly between 105/110 psi across all 3. When do you think I should tear it down for a rebuild? As of now the sled runs and performs very strong. They say if it's not broke don't fix it. Suggestions?

Pistons still had machining marks on them all three in tolerance .Auji700 i would at least rering mine had blowby not the same power she had before especially after riding my brothers 01 srx last winter. After seeing what the crank seal looked like i wont let it go that long .

Mines pushing just shy of 15200 all original except plugs and belt of course, I've got 120 across all 3, she drinks nothing but 94 octane and dominater full synthetic oil, that's the secret, u want your steed to go forever but want to beat the piss out of it, good oil, good fuel and proper maintenance, a keen ear will do you a world of favours aswell. Nothing but the best I can find for my machines and they've never let me down

Running these engines for huge mileage before they are freshened up is not the best thing for them. I agree with the expression "if it is not broken, don't fix it" to a point but on a 2 stroke, periodic rebuilds before a major failure is preventative maintenance. I ran my first 00 SRX to 13,000 miles before a rebuild but wish I had freshened it up earlier. It was obvious during the rebuild that I was lacking some performance (worn rings showing lots of blowby, chipped reed pedals, a few leaking gaskets). It hurts to take an engine apart that is seemingly running perfect but I have learned it is better to refresh sooner than later. I ran synthetic oil in the engine after the first couple of tanks of gas, all the critical dimensions of the important parts were within the wear limits, I put all new gaskets, seals and the normal replacement parts during a rebuild, now good for at least another 5-6000 miles.
