Weight---Base---Tip---Primary spring---shims
8ca--------3.6----2.4---------G-P-G---------3

Mountain Performance offset tool should work fine for at least the 95+ secondary's, as the offset spec is the same at 15mm. Other tools should work as well, as long as there is enough space to fit 'em. You could also use a straightedge and just measure for the 15mm offset.
I will have to check that out..bought a center to center tool but I don't believe checks offset as well... That link doesn't work for me, I guess my biggest worry is how the spring settings work, nothing like cats that I am coming off of. Are the secondarys marked in some way? Or will I have to bring it somewhere to have the balanced checked?

Clutch Balance? Yamaha has the best clutch balance in the biz when the parts leave the factory, it's the other guys that may need their balance checked.
clears up my question about spring installation but not how/ where the sheaves are marked.. can't find any markings on mine

I was not aware of any secondary alignment. Just the two Xs that one has to mate up on the primary and primary cover.

it must go back together a certain way...3 different ways and with balancing holes drilled in the 1 sheave imo would be out of balance 2/3 ways

Ooooooo, your talking about putting everything back together. As in.....it was torn down to parade rest. I thought you were talking about just helix orientation.

Are there any marks or marring that might give you a clue as to how it was.

don't see any kind of marks and with the 7 balancing holes, I think would make a difference if put together wrong... I know when I had a cat was able to bring the primary anyways to a dealer and were able to balance it

no concern with the balance of the secondary. if there was, there would be alignment marks. absolutely no way to take advantage of the adjustability offered with that clutch to be concerned with balance. doesnt matter if its a cat, poo, or doo secondary, there is no balance alignment.
if you stop and process the theory behind the balance of the primary, its to save the crank and bearings. out of balance primary is hard on the engines' bottom end, period. again, not manufacturer specific. thats why all primary clutches have alignment marks but not secondaries, not even the aftermarkets like team or paragons. dont over think it, run it, enjoy it, and tune it right.
befuddles me as to how these other folks chiming in havent pointed out this trivial bit of information. almost 40 years playing with sleds of all makes i have never had a concern for secondary sheave alignment.

the cat secondarys I have did have alignment marks.. I know for a fact factory balancing on them isn't accurate- had 1 primary rebalanced- less than a year old and it was out.. just don't want to wreck the reliability of this machine- am amazed everytime I look at..so well put together whereas cats look like something u built in your backyard..but if nothing wrong with it will run as is... u actually saved me probably $100! lol was able to send in to have balanced/ shipping both ways
