I'm saying the skid you pulled is most likely the original skid and someone added the forth wheel when it was studded at some point in it's lifetime.
Regardless, what you have now can most likely be repaired and even improved with common pro-action parts a lot of guys here have on hand.
If you were able to get the skid out you're more than likely skilled enough to get your skid in original working order or better. Some would say you're wasting your time and it's true you can go to other, better skids.
But if you're looking to fix whats broke - read up on the proaction threads posted here to see your options. Should take a few hours but well worth the time.

I'm saying for the 99 srx 600 skid the parts page has 3 weels in the rear. The skid that I have on it now has 4 weels so now I have no clue what year the skid is from unless I can find a part number.I found out the srx 700 has 4 weels from 98 to 2002 but the part numbers are different. 98 to 99 are the same and 2000 to 2002 are the same. But all 5 years of the 700s had 4 weels. All of the 600s have 3 weels. I will post some pics.
There's a good chance your skid is the original. 1999 SRX 600 had 4 wheels, can't just look at the pic, need to check the parts list as well.
As for other SRX years/models, it's really easy:
The 1998 Mountain SRX came with 4 wheels, all other 1998 SRX's came with 3 from the factory. A 4th wheel kit was offered as an accessory and was a popular addition as noted above.
All 1999-2002 SRX's came with 4 wheels from the factory.
