FINALLY HAPPENED...a first for the 600

well dug further into the motor. The other 2 cylinders are mint,no activity at all with scratch's or gouges.Still can see the cross hatch's clearly.Waiting to hear on some cylinders.Probably once I get one in,I'll just install one of my old pistons and run it for the rest of the season. This way I can see if anything else down below explodes. If not, then will order new piston and rings for next season.Yamaha dealer here wants way to much for piston and rings..like to order from the US but our exchange rate is 24% now..so kinda waiting later to try and get new parts. The heads are in mint shape as well,no marks of any kind.Guess everything found its way through exhaust port..Can't blow to much $$$ out this time of year on the sled..other things come first.Got the old SRX to ride anyways..

well finally got my parts in to repair the little 600.Have 2 mint used cylinders(thanks to Jason) ,new piston,3 sets of rings.I will do the top end once Spring is here and way above freezing .Also have 3 sets of SRX rings(my spares) and will do them also in the Spring.
Just cannot believe what it all costs to fix damage. The 2 cylinders(one for a spare),1 OEM piston and 3 sets of OEM rings, along with extra c-clip is darn near $1000 .Next time something like this happens, the 600 will be hung up to dry...not worth putting so much money into these older sleds. Will run both my sleds till that day arrives, and that will be it for this hobby. Not looking for another sled anymore, want to save for a nice truck in the future.

so for an update on the 600,I got the new piston and rings installed, put new rings on the other 2 pistons as well.Installed the cylinders and the one I bought form JD(thanks). Was adding antifreeze were the cap goes and all of a sudden I here leaking and all over the floor.I thought what the hell here..seems like I took out the drain bolt on water pump side and forgot to put it back..so got that done.Turned the key with choke and pulled almost 20 times and it fires up.Sounds good again to hear all 3 cylinders firing.Took the drain bolt out from the rear exchanger and ran it until there was a steady stream of antifreeze,re-installed the bolt and all exchangers were hot.Ran for about 15 minutes and all sounds good.I will heat cycle it 3 times.Next weekend I will wash both sleds and then fog them for the summer.Never a dull moment with these sleds.

PS:I have no love for the engineer when designing the header (y-pipe) where it is almost impossible to remove and install 1 bloody bolt underneath PTO side. Can hardly get anything straight in there to the bolt due to the engine mount ahead of it.I lost it for a bit and almost started to throw tools around, but held back and finally got the POS in.Now I feel sleepy because of all the 2 stroke smoke in the shed I was breathing in...if it wasn't raining,I would run it outdoors...

Got to put these SLEDS to sleep, got other things to work on...
