Whats the largest pilots you would run in a viper, venom and 98 srx? Sleds are 100% stock.

We seem to be getting crappy premium from the pumps at the bass lake (nahtahka) gas station beware. They are my old mans sleds and I'm really getting sick and tired of cleaning his carbs.

I have already raised clips on all three. I bumped the venom up to 45's last year. The srx is still stock with 40's, and the viper(if i remember) is still stock at the 45's.
 
Oh, so your DCS is kicking in? One size bigger in pilot won't hurt. I thought you were saying your pilots are always plugged/needing cleaning.
 
All three sleds had the carbs cleaned friday, by sunday morning the pilots were plugged on all of them...I threw 45's in the Venom last year because it was plugging up every weekend and that really helped.
 
I'm a little confused then, what problems are you having that you'd think bigger pilots would fix.

Or are you looking for a safety margin for bad ( low octane ) gas? In which I'd leave the pilots alone and bump the mains up one size.
 
Add an inline fuel filter. Odd that all 3 sleds plugged up the pilots.

Or get gas from a different station, that one doesn't have much traffic?

I'm planning on bumping the pilots up to a bigger size to help reduce the risk of them plugging up (b/c of the bad gas). I was just wondering how big is too big with the stock airbox and can?

98 srx- currently has 40's

04 Viper - Currently has 45's

04 Venom - Currently has 45's (I took the 42.5's out last year and bumped them up to 45's)
 
Only gas station in the immediate area and its relatively high traffic because there is a bar attached to the gas station. Usually there is a wait to get gas..
 
Bumping the pilots up isn't the fix here. You have to find what's causing them to plug and fix that.

Many years ago, on a long weekend trip, my sled did the exact same thing. Pilots plugged every day, sometimes twice a day. Turns out my internal fuel filter disintegrated and got sucked through. At least that's my thinking, pilots were always plugged with a white material/substance. Added a inline filter and never had that happen again.
 
By the way, it wont solve the issue but 98 srx would have a 42.5 pilot stock, the only year srx700 to use a 40 pilot was the 2001.
 
like mentioned above you need to add an inline filter to each machine and replace the filter that is in the tank. i bet you will not have anymore issues, going up to a bigger pilot is not the answer.
 
The inline filter in my link above, I purchased at Farm & Fleet. In the isle with all of the automotive filters. Just had to look in a dozen boxes or so to get the right size. It's a Fram.
