Fitting Carbides in Skis

Hello,
One of the last items on my Yamaha is installing the new carbides that I just got. I have a new pair of steel skis that are OEM style (they match the originals I removed pretty good). I just got my new set of carbides/wear bars from Bergstrom and the studs appear to to line up well, but I can't get the round bar into the slot at the front of the ski. I had this issue on the OEM set that were previously on the sled and I just enlarged the slot in the old ones, but am wondering if there is a trick to get them to slide in? Should I chamfer the ends of the carbides/wear bars?
 
Thanks for the response. I was hoping there was some trick that I wasn't aware of and I didn't need to grind away at my new ski's, but looks like that is the only option.
 
Nothing. I'm going to try and trailer up to MI or WI soon. Did too much work to let it sit all winter.

I've done my 74 to 77 's before and just not recently ... I forget which end first , but slip one end in (rear?), line up the
distance to the other hole and flex the runner into bow shape and slip into slot / hole ,,, hold it down and tap the one threaded
bolt until the rod slightly goes in and then a better swat to slide it along until the bolt pop into holes ... use a screw driver between runner and ski to tap on and
pull it out after... it is hard on the thread of the stud but seldom had to file it clear...
If the bolts/studs are way longer than needed for yours , it is part of the problem and shorten the one first

Thanks for the response, but I'm not having an issue with getting the studs into the ski, it's the diameter of the rod that won't slide through the front end slot. I'd say it's <1/16" on each side too big. As much as I was hoping to not have to grind away at a new set of ski's with fresh paint, I'll just have to touch up any bare metal after I clearance. I had to do the same thing to the OEM skis when I installed the Woody's wearbars last time.
 
OK ... grind edge off the runner ??? as you mentioned ... it may help them lay flat in the depression in the ski as well..
Leave a nice radius transition so it doesn't cause any stress cracks from a sharp edge..
