snow drags are alot differnt then ice drags, youd get LESS traction with that gearing, you need to gear it up some to about 22/38 on snow, your rpm will also come down. The reason it didnt pull after a ways down is you completely shifted out way ahead of time because the engine sees less load with that gearing and it runs out of motor.
The traction on snow is no where near what it is on ice and grass so you have to gear taller so you spin the track less and move forward shifting the clutch along the way, if you just shift it immediately you have nothing to pull you on topend, its already in high gear and loaded from the snow, so you go slower.
