I've heard a little bit about the option of swapping a Phazer skid over to the chassis of an SS440. I couldn't find any specific information on this. What modifications are required for this to work? What years for the Phazer are the best for this swap? Is primary objective better rear suspension?

Old topic bring it to life if anyone is interested.

1980 ss 440 that did not get the change up is a large pitch track. No direct swap there. Drivers have to be changed...but the PZ 480 track drive shaft will drop right in. Now you have the 2.52" pitch drivers to work with.

The the 1981 ss 440 and newer has the 2.52" pitch drivers. Much easier to work with than the 1980 ss 440.

With the stock 116" track not much track or lug choices. .75" and 1" are about it.

If you swap up the the 121" there is way more track choices. Either way the PZ-480 rear skid will have to be relocated is the ss chassis. No direct bolt pattern that i am a wear of.

Measuring back form the drive shaft back. The front arm location would be right close to the foot rest and hard to locate the bolt. So I ended up raising the front location 5/8". This is were it ended up.

Rear location measure from drive shaft and top of tunnel again. Ended up here.

Just trying it in this location. I should in theory raise the rear hole up 5/8" to match the front location. Might do that yet.
