Viper clutching problems. Any ideas ?

I have a 2003 Viper. I had the dealer put 4.5g tip weights in for me based on the info that I recieved from this site. I also had the clutches serviced and aligned and tourque limiter installed. I also had a new belt installed. The first time I had it out. The sled just ripped. It pulled hard and revs were around 8,400 where they should be. I had the sled out the other day and it was pulling 8,600rpms and it wasn't pulling worth crap. I also have the occasionally get a metal on metal noise when pulling away. It sounds like the clutch. Anyone have any ideas on what happend to my setup. I loved they way it pulled before. It now works the same as before. Any ideas ?? :o|

Clutch may be binding. Does it make the same sound as when the secondary slams shut after you take the belt off?
 
It sounds more like a Chirp/queel and a scraping metal sound. I will have to bring it to the dealer. Anyone have any ideas ?
 
is your clutch torqued? Very unlikely that it would be loose, but always possible i guess. Otherwise i would say it would have to be a bushing.
 
So I had the sled into the dealer and they fixed my lean idle condition and they looked over the clutches. He says he put some shims into the secondary clutch. I took it for a little spin behind the dealer. It seemed to work a bit better. I tried it on the open trail and it doesn't seem any different other then it doesn't seem to over rev right away however when you wind her out it climbs to 8,600+ rpms. The squealing seems to be gone when taking off. The mechanic doesn't know what to think. It was running perfect at 8,400rpms after the first service and install of more tip weight/torque limiter/alignment/cleaning/new belt. Then after a few kms it started to over rev and made a weird squeal when pulling away on occasion. Do the conditions and temperature have any affect on the clutching? Can the belt be defective or smoked in so few kms ? I want to make this thing pull like it should on the trail. It makes a big difference in performance. I can barely hit 100mph with the over rev condition. When it ran at 8,400rpms originally I could 100mph no problem at all. Anyone have any ideas ? Turk ? Mr. Sled ? Anyone ?

hte secondary clutchs on 97' up yamys are adjustable by the shims as done by your dealer. this is a common thing when changing a belt. i would suggest changing the secondary spring rate and cleaning the sheaves on the clutches again as they can get dirty easily. the only thing i could thing of is checking the sleeve offset. this should help with the rpm change also check the center to center.
 
How do you check the sleeve offset? I might be taking into another guy that is supposed to be one of the best Yamaha tuners around here. He has is own shop and has been recommended to me. It couldn't hurt to get someone else to look at it ? Anyone else have problems with their 2003 Viper's over revving? I hear its like a hit and miss with the vipers. Some over rev and some don't. I think some Viper owner's don't know what they are missing. I don't get why it worked awesome and then all the sudden it started over revving after the initial setup from the first of the season. What has changed???
