idler wheel removal and replacement part

Hello,

Wondering how the middle wheel comes off at back of skid? 1994 VMAX 600. Also, What is the hole in the shaft where the bolt goes in for? Took the bolt out and it seems fubared. Lastly, can you order a replacement belt tensioner shafts and bolt? Assumed that if you let off the tension the shaft would come apart and I could get at the third wheel but alas I sheared the bolt off.

I would say it is stuck and corroded in place... you may have to cut it off and replace the shaft.
 
your not supposed to take that bolt out ,it is pinnied. That whole shaft is to slide out thru the collars and such. if it cant ,then it is corroded, or bent and you probably need a new axle, I had to replace one on my sx ,the axle was bent an couldn't get it to pull thru. GOOD LUCK! and yes you need new tensioners!
 
The axle is one piece, the spacers are just pieces of tubing and should come off. Like others said, the bolt is drilled and pinned and the threads for the nut are aluminum so don't ape on it when you tighten it up. The adjusters hold the tension that's just there to pinch everything together. Like they said, if it's bent it won't come out, cut it and head to ebay for some new parts.
 
Thanks for all the replies guys, love this forum. Can't get the shaft out to save my life. Even if I cut the shaft, going to have to get the shaft past all the collars which I doubt will happen. Have read that a suspension swap is good for these machines for a better ride. Instead of putting all this work in replacing all the bearings, tracking a new shaft may just go that route.....what is a good suspension to swap? and is it a hard process? Any leads appreciated.
