melted viper guage

Anyone have a problem with the tach backing and black pod melting around the guage? Mine looks to be melted on the top left of the tach (pod and backing) and top right of the speedo just the pod, lcd looks fine). Everything is working fine. Whenever I feel it it's not hot. Just looks like crap. Any suggestions?

Ripped out wiring harness, no shorts or wear spots. So I took guage apart, no internal damage on the inside of the case (other then warped tach. face). Took it to local auto-electric guy he said it seems to be an external heat source. This is a long shot and maybe a stupid question but here it goes. Is it posible to build up enough heat from reflecting off or shining through my trasperent chrome cobra windshield? As I have stored it outside most of the winter without a cover
