So I got rid of my top end loss of power. Could have been my fuel pump (oil/fuel in pulse line and check valve), the fact that my floats were off by 2 or more mm

i pulled my sled apart because I had a sever vibration end of last season. Jackshaft bearing behind secondary was shot as well as jackshaft. Replaces jackshaft, new bearing and new chain case bearings.

Took it out to test today and it ran perfectly smooth and crisp. Went for a ride with my son (total of 285lbs ) lbs on sled and after 1 mile on a 20 mph turn to the right i goosed it a little, and it started vibrating some through the seat.

i took sled out by myself and it didn't vibrate. The only bearing I didn't change is speedo (it was changed 1000 miles ago when track was installed. This sled has a prox skid, I am wondering if I need a anti stab kit. Could the weight cause the front of skid touch the front of the rails?

Just note today was also first ride with brand new 8dn belt. Soaked in hot soapy water. I hope i didn't put a flat spot in belt. I am running 6+1 wrap.

Thoughts?

Good thought Ill check tonight. Another question: This happened last year, and I found the bad bearing so I assumed that was it. However, if it was the belt last year and I put a new belt on and the vibration came back within a couple miles what could be happening in my clutches to cause belt vibration... I cleaned my clutches thoroughly when I had it apart. I even used a scotchbright on the sheaves for Primary and Secondary.

It sounds like you are chasing 2 different vibrations. If the mods that you list are for this sled and you are running a 1.25 track with studs maybe one of the tunnel protectors have come loose including the front 2.Track rubbing on tunnel?Track clips all straight as well as the track?Do you have nonslip drivers that are touching the front axle of the skidframe. It might help putting the sled on a stand and spin the track by hand and with throttle.Have you clipped the track?

The clutches don't really ever vibrate but will be effected by broken or loose moter mounts or if the bearing for the secondary was installed improperly by putting the bearing reataners on the wrong side of the side of tunnel. The nut for the top gear must be tightend before the lock screws on the bearing is.Allways push and pull on things to see if they are loose with a bar or by hand when looking for a broblem you will be suprized sometimes what you will find.

I had the set screws set on the top bearing before I torqued the top gear... I had the 2 bolts holding the bearing retainers loose... Do you think I side loaded my new bearing and wrecked it???

Soooo. I found the source of the vibration. Forgot to tighten one of the track tension bolts so my rear axle pivoted and rear left wheel was hitting track guide lugs.

i did go loosen the torx on the jackshaft bearing and it released pressure on the bearing. That was a bone head move!!! Don't tighten the set screws or bearing plates on clutch side until you install and torque your upper gear in chain case. I only went a 1 or 2 miles so I don't think I wrecked the bearing but I bet It fails prematurely. It isn't meant to have thrust load on it.

Shoild be be all good to go now!
