I need 98 VMax SX 700 Info

I just bought this machine last year, the guy I got it from did not say if there were any mods done to it but I'm pretty sure she has aluminum reed spacers on it, not sure what type of reeds, hopefully factory reeds lol, Is there anyway off telling if she has the head gasket mod without taking the head off, I checked the compression on all 3 cylinders, Shows 147 PSI on all 3, is that normal? I can see the gaskets and it only looks like 2, but that may not be right, any help would be greatfull

147 psi would lead me to believe the gasket has been split. My old ported motor with a single layer in it would blow in the 155 range on my gauge.

Look at the head gasket tabs on each side of the head. If it is stock, I'll have a brass(I think) rivet securing all three layers of the gasket. If it's gone, you can count how many layers is there.

So if she already has the head gasket mod and reed spacers, what type of power gains would I have over stock???

Few horse. I seem to remember that the reed spacers/stopper notch, can drill, and head gasket thin were thought to be good for 5-7 total. I know when's did all three to the ole red head I had to add a little weight to get the r's right again so it made some power.

Ohh yeah I never knew I might need that, Im also going to drill the stock can, add a boost bottle and drop to teeth on the top gear, 23 to 21

With the minor motor/exhaust mods and the regear you will certainly want to adjust the clutching.
