SRX electrical oil / temp lights flickering - others ?

A couple electrical issues came up on my 99 srx. One issue is the headlight - tach - and all back lighting would go dark intermitantly. Any one ever seen this? looking at the schematics in the service manual all those systems are supplied by a single blue wire from the Mag. After an intial check I could not find anything. As anyone else seen this?

Next thing is the Oil and temp light flickering or radomly coming on. I'm gonna do the check per the Service manual, but just wondering if anyone has seen this sensors go bad. Sled gives a normal flash indication on start-up but soon after, it will radomly and I mean randomly indicate a low oil condition or a high temp even with a full tank of oil and the sled stone cold after start-up after setting outside all night.

I know its not a temp issue. I have a Digital gauge sensor mounted just opposite the factory sensor and it works perfectly. In which the intermittent temp light has zero corralation with. Operating Temps run right around 135 degrees - 148 degrees. Which per the manual seem right onthe money.
 
Long story short, had same problem, dealer changed two oil sensors and still the same problem, then...found the wiring harness under engine had been damaged from vibration, placed tubing over to protect and was fine(the last two seasons), only thing is they had to remove engine to do this........Reaper
 
I did have some problems with dash and head light at the same time, but the dealer did not put 2 + 2 together, i did get half the labour covered by warrenty, even though i bought sled used.......Reaper
 
Mrsled - Reaper, The specific wiring harness you guys are refering to is the one that starts with the big connectors in between the disc brake and the #3 carb, and it runs under the engine over to the left side of the sled and terminates at the large connectors at the left shock mount hump? Is this correct? and somewhere under the motor the wires are shorting to the frame?

Seems to me you could disconnect this harness on both ends and pull in out (i'm sure a few metal tie downs will be bent in the process, and I'm sure it ties into the charging system down there also).
 
I am pretty sure that is the cable you are looking for, but i don't think you can just pull it through, could be wrong but i did not get a chance to see because dealer had already fixed by the time he told me what was wrong, he figure since he got most of the cost cover by warrenty i wouldn't mind..........Reaper
 
yes, that is the harness, you should be able to bend back the taps that hols it in place on either side and slide it back toward the carb rack about 1 ft and you should see where is is rubbing either on the engine or frame.
