I was partly right about a new utility sled(VK pro II)but figured it would be a smaller sled(not a reboot).Nice to see a new rear suspension on the delta-box sleds(reviews seem to love it over the mono, pro-action units). Also the vector 130 gets many internal mods to boost power and driveabilty(3 different power modes).Glad to see no more yamacats for now.Hope the sling-shot rear suspension is a sign that a new 100% Yamaha sled from japan will be here for 2018.

Now does anyone really think the front and rear struts will do anything. I know there is some flex to the frame but to add a strut in the back inbetween a rear grab bar. Really. How much more ridged could that be. I don't think that was a good spot for it. Front one I can see maybe. Sorry just ranting. Wanted to see something better then I did. Don't get me wrong I love my Yamaha but the ski doo MXZ X is looking better. I started out on a Yamaha 250 enticer to a 340 enticer to a ski doo 380 then a MXZ 670 back to Yamaha srx. Do I dare try another Yamaha. Not much is changing. I know you don't have to change what is not broke but it seems like they aren't putting much back into the snowmobile line up. I do like the mode changing ability. Maybe I will save some money and invest it into the SRX for now or maybe a 2012 Vector for the wife and I will continue to wait for that over the top sled from Yamaha again. Still not sold on the vipers yet. Sorry guys I might be way off base here but just how I feel at the moment. Am I the only one? Please comment.

If I wanted that chassis i would buy a lighter more powerfull 2 stroke cat . Dampers can reduce road noise and resonated sounds through a cars chassis but its affects on a sled cant be very noticeable but ive never used them..

I heard from a Yamaha dealer a week ago another sport side by side is going to be released in June or July this year. Hoping for a 1000c or bigger motor with a long travel suspension.

You are not alone. I reluctantly switched to Doo this past year, riding a Summit 154 now. I would much rather be on a Yamaha, but won't go back until they produce something like the Mountain Max or Mountain Viper of years gone by, in an updated NEW 100% Yamaha chassis. Even if it is a 4 stroke, they HAVE to get the weight into a competitive range with the other 3. The only negative things I have to say about the new Summit, it collects a lot of ice in, and on top of the tunnel. But I'm working on resolving that issue. And the clutching is way hotter than what I'm used to, so I have to stop and cool things off more than I'd like. Other than that, I'm loving it. My .02

MY brother(7 skulls)trade his 06Nytro last winter for a 2014 MXZ 600 sport carb. While it rides better,is a lot lighter, equally as fast,it still has faults.Front suspension handles great on smooth trails but throw in some sharps humps on corners and look out for the famous TWITCH.My Phazer has a far better front end even with all the improvements he did over the summer(Silicast front end,grip-n-rip).Electric starter also acts up(shaft on starter needs to be cleaned with WD-40,compressed air to keep it from sticking). As for the build-up of heat in the clutch install ski-doos vent kit. This cuts down on the heat a lot(see picture).Seems ski-doo can,t figure out how to keep the CVT cool like Yamaha(This is what is holding them back from releasing a more powerful sled, along with no market for a hypersled for the loyal dooers).Grass is not always greener on the other side, just better patches here and there.

The only thing I feel they are missing from the Viper line is more power, short of spending an extra 3k to get away from 600 performance. You can only cut so much weight before you're stuck with an over priced piece of plastic and tinfoil. Give us a 160 horse na Viper. I have to laugh at all the posts on facebook with all these newer 2 strokes with new engines and rebuilds at 3k miles, and it seems not a single brands 2 smoke is anymore reliable than the others.

I agree with that 100%. The skidoo has it's positives and negatives. I've started to look into venting on the clutch side, will probably have to do that eventually to keep it from being a belt eater. You also mentioned the front end...I was extremely hesitant about actually buying this sled because of the S&E module durability. I put on the grip n rip bracing x3 and a CF skid plate to attempt to protect it from the get-go. We'll see how it holds up. Overall though, for me, and the riding that I do, Yamaha didn't have anything that appealed to me, and it was a hard decision to make. There was no way I was going Polaris, due to the 800 reliability issues, and I've never been much of a Cat fan. Having a Doo dealership 8 miles from my house, and a 4 year warranty on the sled made the decision for me. Actually kind of felt sick though after placing my order last April. I'd go back to a Yammi in a heartbeat if they offered what I was looking for.

The 600 sport is a base model xp sled. Alot of stuff were improved on with the xs including the clutch cooling, front end, and the r motion skid. Id still buy the gripnrip though just for peace of mind. even though their new engines im not hearing any bad about poos 800ho or cats ctec2 600. This winter i had the chance to buy a new sled and almost got myself a 2013 indy 600. Got laid off and im going back to school this year so i wont be in the market for a new sled for a couple years anyways.

Felt the same way after the yamicats were unveil two season ago, took a test ride on a phazer demo(last hope) and loved it,then spring order my new phazer RTX.Quite a few Yamaha loyalist jumped ship after the 2014 viper was unveiled(My brother was one).If the past is anything to go by installing a new rear skid in an old chassis could be a promise of great things to come(1996 strut XT sleds with pro-action prior to trailing arm chassis 1997,2005 mono,pro-active rear before new apex for 2006).A new 100% yami chassis with the the FZ-09 triple engine(115HP) would the the closest we could get to the original 1997 700SX in this day and age.One can dream.I agree with that 100%. The 600 carb MXZ is great value for the money but one complaint about the new xs chassis is side panel removal(much easier on the xp ).Nicer finish on the body of the xs.The way this winter has been here locally i feel bad for anybody that bought a new sled.Should be some deals for next fall.Pretty sure the 600carb XP is the only modern two-stroke 600cc sled that can burn 87 octane(etec,CFI,Ctec, all 91 minumium).

That pic of the new skid looks awfully close to a cat skid.

OHHH gotta look at your garage pics. I wish I could justify a new sled but just don't have a long enough season or mass amounts of snow where I live. Oh well, no sleds in garage. I'd like to see your Liquifire. What year?

looks like older cat rails forsure. Should ride pretty good with the evol over a regular float.

No, your not the only one! The first year they came out with the viper I never liked at all. THEN this past year it started to grow on me, especially after demoing a viper ltx dx 137". Great sled by the way. But I've been on the 4 stroke side reading up on them and there's just so many problems with them and it's all the cat crap that is failing....I'm totally turned off of them now especially after there's been nothing new on them for 2016 except for some new color schemes and saddle bags...woohoo. I'm not tryin to piss anybody off, but that's just me.
I've got my eye on skidoos new renegade enduro 137" with air ride! ill end up getting a 1200 4tec...those engines are very good as well...I know nothing can touch a 4 stroke Yamaha engine in terms of reliability, but they're good and reliable.
Yamaha just ain't dooin It for me...
