Brake thud

When I apply the brake on my 99 vmax600 triple you can hear a periodic thud and can feel is through the brake handle. Any ideas?
 
Kinda thud we talking about? Play in brake rotor or lose chain? Ive heard where the caliper has a piston on each side one can stick causing vibration and other issues.

i'll check that. it almost feels like a warped rotor, but im 90% sure it isn't
 
The thud you have is inherit in the design of the reverse. There is slack in the reverse setup to allow it to go in and out of reverse. You have nothing wrong.

Take your belt off and turn the secondary back and forth and you will feel the slop. There will be several degrees of free play.

No it's not normal, believe me I have an sxr with reverse and it is silent. It's like a periodic thud that goes "thud thud thud thud thud " when on the brakes. It's like a warped rotor... But I don't see how that could of happened.
 
ok, a single thud when you spike the brake would be the reverse talking, but if you have several thuds then something else is going on.
I let someone put a set of moose mitts on my sled one day while I was working on something else...they managed to strap them to the brake lever just tight enough to put a little drag on the brake to smoke my brake. It didn't warp the rotor though.

My guess is the rotor is stuck on the shaft and only one brake pad is doing the work,Mutch like a car that has stuck pins the caliper wont float .Pull the brake pads off and have a look and spray the keyway on the rotor with some penitrating oil see if it slides on the shaft.
 
I may be wrong. I have had a thud, thud, thud noise happen when the tensioner on the chaincase was too loose.
