Help needed, SRX dropping cylinders under load.

It simply will run ok at cruising speeds and when you go to wide open it will be low on rpm and will not pull good topend. Whats happening is the cdi isnt sending a strong enuff signal to open the valves via the servo motor.
You can see this fairly simple with sled up on a jackstand, powervalve servo cover off and running the sled up on the throttle , the servo pulley just bounces a little bit back and forth and does not fully rotate the valves open. I bet I have changed 4 or 5 with the same problem, all are 98-99 sleds only.

As Mr viper pointed out, since you haven't washed you pistons clean you probably are not dead rich....but back to the ATACC if you go to holtzmans install page Barry says the ATTAC is good for all temps or 6-10 thousand ft of altitude differential. If you go to the variflow tuning charts 8000 ft and 0 temp change require 14% fuel reduction. 6000 ft and 20 degrees warmer is 13% or soomething like that so with 1000 ft baseline jetting you've still used lots of the available compensation on a 7000 ft 20 degree day. Add in some underhood heat and you may already be there.

We don't usually run into trouble up here until late spring since most of our playing is only 2-4 thousand feet of differential.

Good luck

Thanks Everyone!

Well, I just returned from a week long adventure in the Snowy Mountain Range, and prior to leaving I swapped CDI modules from my other '98 SRX, reset the ATACC and went back to my original jetting and crossed my fingers. After the first day I knew I had the problem licked, it was the CDI just as I had thought and MrViper pointed out. Heck that had to be the problem, since it was the only thing I haven't replaced yet. :o| It was unfortunate that it took me this long to figure out the problem, but I finally got 'er to go. The ATACC worked up to about 11,000 feet, and I even got to test out and run my newly installed Boondockers nitrous setup. :nos: All I can say is it was sweet and everything worked like a charm. I am kinda bummed though, since I have really been contemplating letting the old girl go, and stepping up to an APEX w/boost. The only dilemma is whether to part it out or sell 'er whole, and I think I may be better off parting it out. I think I will be listing it at first whole and then see how things turn out. If anyone may be interested in something let me know, and I should be listing it in the swap area shortly. I just wanna say thanks again for all of the input! :rocks: ;)!
