Primary issue

So My primary started making all kinds of noise!!! looking into it I found what I believe is the bushing that belongs in the sliding sheave. Well on its way to My belly pan it gouged the hell out of My primary sheaves. Even made a couple in the secondary. So I plan on buying new Primary sheaves and rebuilding the rest of the primary, Who do you guy's send them out too get balanced,

I would pick up a used clutch on eBay and go through it. There are a lot of specialty clutch holding tools required to tear the clutch down that far. It may not be worth the investment just to do it once.
 
I guess that's the problem, My sled is a 2002 vmax 700 2500 miles and in perfect condition. The previous owner said the dealer in Rangley had just gone through the entire sled. I put 20 miles on it before
it let go. So I am a little gun shy on paying 250.00 for a used clutch.
I think I can rebuild mine and have it balanced for around 400.00
am I crazy??

"gone through the entire sled" is a pretty vague term and could mean a lot of things.

A $200.00 pre-season check doesn't get you much. It might get the carbs cleaned, grease the skid, track/ski alignment and maybe a visual inspection of everything else... usually by some 19 year old that "always wanted to work on snewmobiles".

IOW - did they pull the clutch off and inspect during the "gone through the entire sled"?

Probably never even pulled the belt off.

I'd take BMM's advice and buy a good used primary and transfer all the stuff.
 
Sounds like the dealer "never" actually did anything. A going through can also be a cleaning and visual inspection. I doubt most shops will tear a clutch down into component form just for an inspection.

Where in NH are you? There are some good Yamaha guys in the state.
 
if you get up north there is an EXCELLENT yaaha guy up there. but it IS a drive from portsmouth. who are the good yamaha guys in NH you are thinking of?
 
I had good luck with Barton's in Tamworth, they did the track swap when I went 151 and did a good job. Dale is very knowledgable and isnt a rush it out the door kinda guy. You also have town and country over in east Conway.
