Yes, I've done it like that until I had one that just wouldn't come off like that. Then I bought the right pullers over the years. I wouldn't even think of using a jaw style gear puller. I was just thinking of something else. The puller set I am talking about is like a fly wheel puller. You just use the forcing screw, I'll show you. (I am not sure what this clutch puller is for, I somehow put them in all the wrong packages) I was thinking he either has a set like this or free rental at Auto-zone or something. The only thing you have to watch for is if your clutch tapers down inside before the crank like some arctic cat with the comet style clutches do. I just use the forcing screw with one on the adapters on it. I have several clutch pullers but this set just happens to have the long bolt with the same threads. The EXP clutch might be even bigger then 3/4-16, never dealt with one of those but have a real puller for it and some EXP used 9/16-18.
