comet clutch puller?

Does anyone know if there is another puller that would work with a 108exp comet clutch. I would like to pull the one off my vmax but don't want to spend $100 on a puller. I plan on selling it and putting a Yamaha clutch back on. I got the comet because that was the only clutch I could find in a hurry at the time.
 
go to the hardware store and buy a 3/4 - 16 fine thread bolt say 2 inches or so long thats all you need. take your crank bolt out tip your sled on its side and pour water down the hole and put a little teflon tape on the 3/4- 16 bolt threads and screw in. she will be off in seconds. i use grease instead of water so i don't have to tip the sled up on side but thats just me. i got my bolt at fastenal. hope that helps ya
 
Or go to autoparts store and "rent"(most do free rentals)a bolt grip puller. The forcing screw is long and has same threads, Gotta make sure that clutch hole doesn't get narrow further in though otherwise bolt will get jammed. Had that happen. Its basically a really long 3/4 18 bolt with threads all the way down and a hole on end for different pointed adapters. I used mine on 102 comets.

DO NOT use a gear puller, you will crack the clutch and then it's junk. The bolt with grease or oil or hydraulic fluid will work.

Yes, I've done it like that until I had one that just wouldn't come off like that. Then I bought the right pullers over the years. I wouldn't even think of using a jaw style gear puller. I was just thinking of something else. The puller set I am talking about is like a fly wheel puller. You just use the forcing screw, I'll show you. (I am not sure what this clutch puller is for, I somehow put them in all the wrong packages) I was thinking he either has a set like this or free rental at Auto-zone or something. The only thing you have to watch for is if your clutch tapers down inside before the crank like some arctic cat with the comet style clutches do. I just use the forcing screw with one on the adapters on it. I have several clutch pullers but this set just happens to have the long bolt with the same threads. The EXP clutch might be even bigger then 3/4-16, never dealt with one of those but have a real puller for it and some EXP used 9/16-18.

3/4-16 is the correct size for the 108exp. there is not a clutch on the planet that won't come off with this method and a impact and no worry's of of stuff getting stuck inside and not having anything touch the crankshaft. may as well keep it simple.
 
I have done that method but I thought I read somewhere that it can somehow damage the crank end? I don't see how but where did I read that. I think it was on a tool site or something(of course). Do you know if he got it off?
 
I haven't tried yet. I will let you know when I get it. I have to go get a bolt. Thought I had one here but cant find it.

They are far cheaper than $100
I just bought a puller, it fits my Phazer, Exciter SX and the enticer, got it from Kimpex $27.99
I see one that works on the comet 108C and others on the kimpex snowmobile catalog, page 1426.
Price is $41.99 Canadian, maybe you can sell it with the comet.

Oops my edit I see yours is a 108exp, don't see one for that :(
