Anyone one here run one of these with their well set up 700 sx? From what I've read the sx should go as good or better, definitely more top end. Was thinking about getting one but can't justify the money for a sled that struggles to get over 95mph on a hard packed trail. If I ask this question on the ty 4 stroke form not sure I will get accurate answers.

The snow trax TV guys seem to love the new vipers and did mention that it does run out of leg a little quickly, but it's a matter of gearing not the engine power.

They said the turbo sled is even worse. AJ said it runs out of legs really fast with the turbo, needs revised gearing in the chain case.
I have both a 14 Viper and a SXR with Aaens and clutching. They are actually pretty evenly matched, but the viper gets out early off the line and top speed is not really that much different. The viper just has a really accurate speedometer where the SXR is off. Both sleds are still fun to ride, but I can ride the Viper all day on rough trails and not be beat up at the end of the day.

Right on. A lot of the Vipers being slow reports are because the speedos are dead on. As far as the turbos being worse in the post above. ....inaccurate. mine easily breaks 100mph and in short order. You need to forget about the dream o meter speeds you see on the older sleds. Nothing wrong with the proaction sleds. They were great sleds and I'll keep a few in my fleet but the newer sleds are amazing when it comes to ride comfort. Again I love the old triples. They'll always have a place in my heart but they just don't compare.

X2 Jeff. Everything I've read about MPI's trail turbo turns these sleds into trail monstors. I'm spring checking next year but if I were to go now it would be the ltx with the mpi turbo. Only thing is I really want the xtx 141. The 137 is only 2" shorter on the ground so we shall see.

It sounds like the 141 doesn't really exist in a crossover any more. The yami video about the mountain sleds advertises a new 141" mountain with the 34" wide front end, and the longest trail sled is the ltx now. I doubt the little foot print difference would matter for a trail rider, but a front end that narrow couldn't be fun on the trail for very long.
Great job for upping doo and making the narrowest mountain sled on the market, only down side is you lose travel. Just like a 39" Mtn Max is 6" vs 9" for a wide front end vMax

I have a 97 sx 700 that is stock other than reeds, it has 8ca weights and a 51/43 the new vipers (non turboed) will not hold a candle to thre sx

Not going to start a pissing contest but have you lined up against one? These new vipers are pretty quick and as with any sled a little clutching as you have and the are a force from what I've seen and read. No offense but my old stock vipers will take your stock sx and I know a properly tunned new viper will take me .
