Suggestions for a new track for an SRX

The tracks on both of my 2000 SRX 700's are pretty worn, time for new tracks. Both sleds have the original Yamaha track. What do you folks suggest for a replacement track and lug height? I don't want to modify the suspension or change the track drivers. All of my riding is on groomed hard-packed trails, I don't do any off trail riding (Everytime I tried to be adventurous I got stuck bad or hit something) at all. I am not planning on studding the new tracks. Thanks!

Maybe a camoplast ripsaw ll 1.25" lug. They seem nice for trail. Their tracks seem to take alot of abuse.
Found the track at Tracks USA(an advertiser here) for $450, same track. Now I know where to look if I need one. Check out the supporting advertisers page, good stuff.

So far I like the 1" Hacksaw I have. Haven't got to try it in any deeper stuff yet. Seems like a lot of people really like the predator. You can get that in a 1 or 1 1/4" and I think if you do not stud you can get a 1 1/4 to fit but not totally sure on that. I did not like my ripsaw but the ripsaw II looks pretty good. I stretched mine to a 136 and was planning on buying the ripsaw II but got the hacksaw slightly used for a pretty good deal so I went with that. Another one I have seen recommended quite a bit is a Kimpex ultimate traxtion. My cousin has one and it does pretty good and seems durable. Hope this helps
 
I put a ripsaw II on my srx, so far im very pleased and IMO its way better than the 1" predator I replaced...could be the extra lug height though. I think it does pretty well off trail aswell and appears to be holding up well after this season. I havent ran studs in years, so I have the front and tunnel protectors removed.... I give it 2 thumbs up
 
my 99 SRX had a 1.25" ripsaw... my 2001 has 1" hacksaw.... To be honest, get better traction with ripsaw, but some guys will say turning the extra tall lugs will rob some power... Ripsaw and Hacksaw are same track, just 1.25" or 1"
 
What makes the Kimpex scrub off top speed? I have on on my 02 SRX and I admit I have a hard time getting it to 100mph.

For the conditions you stated, hands down.....Hacksaw. Kimpex Ultimate Traction is the runner up and is more durable but will scrub off top speed.

I have a 1.25" predator now named carve. Full block lug, very aggressive! I don't run studs in mine either. It's a very good track on the hard pack, but it tends to slide around around a bit as soon as the trails loosen up.

Don't get me wrong, they are a fantastic track. If I were to pick between the two, I'd pick the Kimpex. But my conditions that I ride in dictate that I shound have a more rugged track. Plus I could give two hoots in h3ll about top speed. All of the road crossings, corn stubble, gravel roads and ditches tell me I need one of those brick sh!thouses under my sled.

Ripsaw and hacksaw are totally different tracks, lug design is not the same.
 
Jim If you are going to install a new track you should stretch it out to 136 while you are at it. Give me a call if you decide to go 136. I have everything to do it including the new track.
 
ICE ATTAK XT in my 2002. Similar lug design to a Ripsaw 2 with molded in studs. Excellent track, aggressive, durable with built in traction for washed out icy corners. Very happy with it's performance. A little trimming required to clear front protectors!
 
Thanks folks for the excellent advice. I'd like to give the Ice Attack track a try, I like the idea of the molded in mini-studs.

Dave, I'll come visit you this weekend to see what you have for the 136" extension kit.

I would say ice ripper then, if you wanted the molded studs. everyone seems to love the ripsaw 2, but that is more of a crossover track than strictly on trail track. for only riding on trail, go with the ripsaw. on trail it will feel and act like a studded track. it has a lot more traction for side to side movement, as in the tail wont slide around a corner. I didnt notice any mph loss putting it on my viper. and the difference was incredible. snowtech JUST had a blurb about the difference between the two ripsaws, may be worth looking up. hope it helps Jim!

As per their brochure for pre-studded tracks, Ice Attak = Hacksaw design, 1" lug height and 38lbs for 121", Ice Ripper XT = Ripsaw design, 1.25 lug height and 39lbs for 121", Ice Attak XT = 1.22" lug height and 40lbs for 121". From my experience the Hacksaw is a fast track, less weight, less rolling resistance etc.
