Just picked up a 80 srx. Runs and drives but needs tuning . It has 36 or 38mm round slides on it . What would everyone reccomend for a starting point with jetting? Has 270 mains in it now . Not sure of pilots , slides or needles. I want to ditch the carbs on it for a better set of 38s . Previous owner had a problem wkth it blowing up because had a 76 head on one cylinder . I'm just looking for a good setup for the occasional drag race and trail ride . It also has a p85 on it with stock secondary so I'll be looking to replace that with a 102c. What belt will fit best with 102c and stock secondary? . I'd also like to pick up another set of cylinders for it. Thanks I'll get more info if need be.

I may have a few good 8G9 cyls. for you and may trade for your 76 head . Please let me know the cast number on the head.. Is it 8A7 ??

Here's some pics of the head I have. Does not have the 8a7 stamping I was told it's a 76 head and the 8a7 got ground off?? Only marking on the head is a asterisk (looks like a little snowflake). Here's some pics image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

thats a 76 head. pretty easy to see by combustion area and the fact it was milled. run a dayco max 1049 belt with a comet 102 c. 3:16 (yammie tony)

After dissasembling the motor I'm probably going to need to find and put different cylinders on it . Chrome isn't perfect and one skirt has been welded...image.jpg

One last question. The crank seems fine bearings are good but is it normal to have different washers on one of the lower rid bearings ?? Here's a pic you can see one side has a thicker washer on one side . image.jpgimage.jpg

I've got 5 heads just looking for cylinders now I bought a whole complete spare motor. Id like to put this one back together eventually

yes the crank should have the thrust washers on each side of the rods make sure to have the crank deflection checked that cylinder can be repaired to like new condition by US Chrome ..............
