Tightening/Rebuilding TSS steering

I want to rebuild all steering components in my 1988 phazer. Do I have to go OEM? seems like it will be pricey that way. The knuckles on TSS probably need replacing and the bolts going through them are all seized. What is best way to do this? Been dreading this for a while, but trails at 45 mph with 3" of steering play each way is extremely dangerous and stupid.I have to get this steering rebuilt. Any tips?

Look for a parts sled for really cheap or look for somebody parting out a phazer

You can also fine tune the the slop with a shim kit after new parts are installed. Probably best to go with oem bolts. I havent found any place locally that has hardend metric bolts the correct size and style.

I bought an SPI shim kit to tighten mine up. That was about 3 years ago, but it seemed to work good. Still fairly tight.

just priced out all bushings, all of them for both sides is $121. I still need bolts, scissor arms, tie rod ends, steering column, and column bushings. Yikes this is gonna be pricey

The kimpex kit I mentioned is $40. The shim kit is around $20. Why do you need scissor arms?? They should be fine. Is your steering post bent??

steering post snapped last ride lol, down at base. That kimpex kit seems to be for 1990 and newer. Would it still work with my 88 TSS? And need knuckles because bolts are seized inside and cant replace bushings with bolts still in.
