SRX 900cc Big Bore Stroker Kit

Hauck - You must be kidding. Log onto Amsnow. check out the for sale area. The first couple of pages have three or four full race engines complete. Yamaha engines just dont mod real well.

What i mean Tony is that you cannot take HP to full race level with a Yamaha. Yes my 780 is fun. I'm guessing mine is roughly 170HP if jetted correctly for that days temp. What you cannot do is make high level Pro Stock 800 or 1000 type HP. Triple Ski doo and Polaris motors can produce 220-230HP(800) and 280-285HP(1000). So when I say Yamaha does mod up real well I'm talking about extreme 800 or 1000 full race engines.
------- I go to the Sno Bash each year I look for the Yamaha's. And for guys who are not familiar with the bash. Its regarded as the best collection of pro grass drag racers in the nation. Roughly 30 guys show each year in Pro Stock 1000 and not one single Yamaha. And that's simply because they don't mod up real well.

great post mac. got ya. this kit above dynoed at 205 900 cc stroker and is a f-8 firecat eater, but know will never be competitive in pro stock 800/1000. 3:16 (yammie tony)
 
mac, the 1000cc engines can be competitive but I agree not the 800 cc engines as you have noted, to race against a modded ski doo 809 for example is taking a pocket knife to a gun fight!. It takes aftermakerket cylinders and a stroked crank to make big hp in a yamaha unfortunately, the cylinders do not have enough port area to feed that big power. I worked on a 1000cc yamaha that made 252hp but again it was aftermarket cylinders, handmade pipes and a stroked crank to 70mm.

nelsonhouse, for the hauck 900, well they were not that great thats why they were never that popular, the lack of power for 900cc and the fact you cant use it in any class except outlaw racing sealed the deal. Youd be better off looking for a union bay engine for your sx if you want big cc engine or at least a price topend, they were not half bad and made decent power.
 
buddie of mine had this kit. 900 hauck stroker in a 2000 srx. sled was wicked. saw it dynoed at jims at c & h made 202 @ 9500. made the hp hauck told him it would make. still has this sled. like i posted, a f-8 eater 3:16 (yammie tony)
 
Jeff Simons 780 will kick A$$ hands down.. a set of aftermarket pipes and porting to boot will make very impressive #s for half the cost of what hauck can do you for you.

You just need to be very careful on warm up with the forged pistons
 
700 yamaha triple cases are pretty small for considering case mod and stroking. they really dont have a ton of capacity for improvement, same with the cylinders.. Now if you were to take a much bigger triple like a 900 thundercat, and you big bored, stroked, cases modded, aftermarket pipes, you would have some pretty serious HP at 225 or maybe at or close to 250 on pump gas.

I think mrviper had 1 of those triple cats all modded up about 10 years ago for use on the tar. that thing sounded awesome and from what I remember, put out some serious HP #s.

i did not know yamaha triples could be made this big. i thought 760 to 835 was the limit.

mac the srx or viper bottom end have great potential to make big power, i have built two you may see one at the bash this year if im not on the tar that week.

Its nice to get first hand information from a guy who winning. And for anyone reading that doesn't know Brian Werner. Brian runs on the NHRA lucas oil pro tour. Division three and one. Brian won the the show at Maple Grove memorial day weekend on a Yamaha...... So I stand corrected. Yamaha can put the numbers.

I thought the Yamaha block was to small to accept the aftermarket 1000cc cylinders? Why would no one else in grass drag racing, ice drags, or tar drags build Yamaha. I dont understand?

If you do race at the Snowbash you will be easy to find with that loan Yami. I will stop bye and say hello.

Thanks Mac... the problem with srx is there hard to do. Go build a skidoo and you can round up all the go fast parts including motor in very short order, yamaha well its all custome made and not that many want to take on that challenge. Srx case compared to mach not much difference mach slightly wider, but srx flows very well
 
Yes if you want to make big power go with skidoo. They are like the small block chevy of snowmobile engines. Lots of aftermarket available. I have srx price cyclinder 68 stroke prostock 1000 that makes 265hp. A bunch of trial and error. Because I did'nt go to the right builder out of the gate. There is more power to be had if I have some case work done and cut the pipes back and turn it up around 10,000 rpm. And yes it was expensive!

IMO, we are still .2~.4 off that ski doo power. When you look at each qualifying round, you see low et. Thats the motor has big smoke in it. Doesn't matter if its ice, grass.. what ever
It's not because they have more parts to pick from. They are working just as hard if not harder then us for hp.
Look at the ET Kovach and Fisher turn on ice, 5.0's...I got nothing for that
